Why The Golden Knights Can Cover The Spread/Win

Despite dealing with injuries all season long, the Vegas Golden Knights have found a rhythm, winning four games in a row now. They are now just one point behind the Stars for that last wild-card spot in the West. The Knights have been pretty good on offense lately, scoring 3.14 goals per game. Defensively, they've only allowed 2.96 goals against per game. It's assumed that starting goaltender Robin Lehner will get the start tonight, but backup and rookie Logan Thompson has been hot lately, including his first career shutout a couple of games ago. But, with a team like the Canucks, the Knights should look at Lehner, who has been a part of the injury merry-go-round all season. He's sporting a .909 save percentage while allowing 2.77 goals against per game. He'll look to step it up tonight as he hasn't played since March 8th.

Why The Canucks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Vancouver Canucks are just eight points behind the Stars for that last wild-card position, and their next two games are against the Knights. If they can steal both games from them, they would immediately propel themselves up into the playoff conversation. Given the up-and-down season that the Canucks have gone through so far, it's no surprise to see their offense slacking sometimes. They are averaging 2.80 goals per game, while their defense is allowing 2.84 goals against per game. Starting goaltender for the Canucks tonight should be Thatcher Demko. He's a fantastic goalie that flies under the radar because of the team that he is on. He's currently posting a .916 save percentage while allowing 2.68 goals against per game. He'll look to shut down the Knights' offense tonight and get a win for his club.

Final Golden Knights-Canucks Prediction & Pick

First thing's first, immediately after looking at the odds for this game, I'm confused why the Canucks are considered underdogs, but their Moneyline odds (-115) are worse than the Knights' Moneyline odds (-104). If they were underdogs, they should have better Moneyline odds than the favorite. Based purely on that analysis, give me the Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline while it's still lower than the Canucks'. Both of these teams are really talented on both sides of the puck, and both teams are fighting for playoff positions, so this could go either way. But I'm basing this pick purely on the fact that having a lower Moneyline as the favorite makes no sense to me, so I'm going to hop on it while I still can.
