Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Minnesota Wild come into this contest on the second half of a road back-to-back after a big 3-1 win against the Hurricanes last night. With that said, the Wild are playing their third game in four days and could be pretty fatigued. Since Fleury started last night, we can expect to see Cam Talbot get the start between the pipes tonight. Talbot has allowed four or more goals in each of his last four road starts but has a .911 save percentage while allowing 2.83 goals against per game on the season. Most of Minnesota's wins have come on home ice. While on the road, the Wild are 17-16 so far this season, so we'll see if that trend stays active tonight.

Why The Capitals Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Washington Capitals are currently in the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, and while the teams are practically set, the Caps are looking to move up in the pack and try to get home-ice advantage when the playoffs start. The Caps have won nine of their 13 games and have been looking very strong as of late. The starting goaltender for the Caps tonight should be Vitek Vanecek, who has a .914 save percentage and a goals-against-average of 2.56. He'll look to stay hot tonight and catch the Wild napping as they are on the tail end of their back-to-back series.

Final Wild-Capitals Prediction & Pick

Immediately after looking at this line, I wanted to take the Wild Moneyline. They've been red hot lately, especially with Fleury protecting their net now, but the fatigue from the Wild and having Talbot in net tonight is a bit concerning. The Capitals have been hot as well, and really need points to try and better their playoff seeding. I'm going to take a semi risky move here and just take the over. I think this game can swing any direction, so just give me the over total goals as both of these teams have no problem putting pucks in the back of the net.

Final Wild-Capitals Prediction and Pick: Over 6.5 (-106)
