The Texas Rangers have somewhat turned it around after a six-game losing streak, winning three in a row. The Rangers benefit from a weak National League West, which keeps them three games back of first place with a record below .500. It won't be as easy for the Miami Marlins to get back into the playoff picture as they sit 19 games back of the Phillies for first in the National League East. The Marlins are steadily improving, as they've won two of their last three series, and there's plenty of time to get back into the playoffs for a second straight season. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Rangers-Marlins prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.
The Rangers haven't announced a starter yet, as Michael Lorenzen left his last start after experiencing some discomfort. Gerson Garabito may get the start if Lorenzen can't take the mound. Garabito signed a minor league deal with the Rangers in December but didn't appear in big league camp during Spring Training. The Rangers called him up for their May 26th game against the Twins when they had six starters on the injured list.
Ryan Weathers has been the best pitcher for the Marlins this season. The lefty has a 3.16 ERA, over a full run better than the next closest starter. Weathers allowed one earned run over his last 21 innings, with the Marlins winning each game. Miami needed Weathers to pitch gems in those games, as they've given him just seven runs in those three games.

Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Rangers hope that Lorenzen will start in this game. He has been one of their best pitchers this season, allowing just three earned runs over his last three starts. Lorenzen had some bad outings sprinkled in but still owns a 3.35 ERA. Lorenzen's record is 2-3 after winning his first two outings. He has put the Rangers in position to win in most starts but only has three losses and three no-decisions to show over his last six starts. It's time for the Rangers to give him some run support and improve his record.
Why The Marlins Will Cover The Spread/Win
Ryan Weathers is the only pitcher for the Marlins that you should feel confident backing right now. He has the potential to pitch another gem in this game, as the Rangers have some ugly offensive numbers against left-handed pitchers over their last ten games. The Rangers are batting .171 with 2.3 runs/nine over that span. The Marlins have won three-straight starts by Weathers thanks to the lefty and just enough offense to get by. There's no reason to believe it couldn't happen again in this game.
Final Rangers-Marlins Prediction & Pick
If Michael Lorenzen starts for the Rangers, we could see the trend continue where Ryan Weathers gets barely any run support. The total has gone under in five straight Weathers starts, with 3.6 total runs per game. Weathers hopes he will get more run support, but the Marlins averaged just three runs/nine over their last ten games. It's hard to pick a side in this game, especially with the uncertainty of Lorenzen's injury. It's better to rely on Weathers and the abysmal Marlins offense to keep this game under.
