The Buffalo Bills have perhaps their biggest game of the season ahead of them; a showdown with the division rival New England Patriots looms on the horizon. It will likely be a contest in which the defense will again need to play at an elite level, even if the Pats are struggling to score consistently.

A considerable part of that defense is third-year cornerback Tre'Davious White. White — now a Pro Bowler — is tied for the league-lead in interceptions with six. His competition is none other than Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore. White revealed that he's in close contact with his positional rival. Via Nick Goss of NBC Sports Boston:

“We exchanged numbers like two months ago. So, we text on and off here. It's cool. I texted him actually before the game Sunday, and I was like, ‘Man, you got two (interceptions), I'm feeling a little motivated today.' Then, look how the football gods worked, I was able to get two picks myself. He texted me after (my) game and was like, ‘You know you should've ran that back (for a touchdown).' It's a good competition. He's a good dude,” White said.

It's nice to see some friendly competition between two of the best defensive backs in the NFL. The Week 16 matchup between the Bills and the Patriots will almost surely be another defensive affair, with the two playing no small part.

New England may have won the last matchup between these two squads, but it was a close one. The Pats won by six despite having four interceptions and blocking a punt for a touchdown. If the Bills can clean up their act, don't be surprised if there's an upset.
