There were some rumors swirling before the draft if the Buffalo Bills would trade back in the draft, and evidently, their draft strategy all depended on the New York Giants, and their decision was made after they took Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick.

In a video released on Twitter by the Bills, they showed all the ins and out's of the war room, and during one part of the video they discussed after the Giants pick how they didn't need to trade down.

“Once the quarterback was taken by the Giants, Daniel Jones, the board was sitting perfect. At that point, we knew we’re not moving back,” Bills General Manager Brandon Beane said.

The Bills ended up selecting Houston Cougars defensive tackle Ed Oliver with the ninth overall pick and Beane is excited about what he can offer the team.

“[Oliver’s] a competitor,” Beane said via Touchdown Wire. “He’s tough. He plays from the snap to the echo of the whistle… They used him in Houston a little different than how we’ll use him. He played a lot of zero, right over the nose. For us, I think Sean will slide him in as a three [technique defensive tackle] in our defense, which is a very important piece for what we’re doing.”

The Giants front office seemed very pleased with getting Jones at six but evidently, they weren't the only ones. That allowed the Bills to get their guy in Oliver at number nine and who knows, maybe the Bills will send the Giants a nice gift come the holidays for it.
