The Buffalo Bills have undergone much change to the roster over the first couple of months of the offseason in hopes of building off their first playoff appearance in well over a decade. With that change, there has remained some lingering questions around a few key pieces of the roster.

One of which is the future of veteran wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who is set to enter the fifth-year option that is worth $8.4 million for the 2018 season. According to WGR 550, General manager Brandon Beane stated on Monday morning that the team wants to first see how Benjamin fits into the team's offensive scheme next season before making a decision on his contract situation.

The 27-year-old had been acquired by the Bills midway through the 2018 season where he made 16 receptions for 217 yards along with a touchdown despite dealing with a knee injury that required surgery in the offseason. Buffalo is hoping that Benjamin can quickly become the team's top receiving option in the passing game alongside second-year wideout Zay Jones.

Through his first four years of his career, he has shown to be a dependable target in the passing game but injuries have played a part in limiting his level of production. He had missed the entire 2015 season due to a torn ACL and dealt with a knee injury this past year that became a factor in affecting his play.

That said, Benjamin has the opportunity in front of him to securely latch onto a significant role in the offense as the unquestioned top option for the long haul in Buffalo. He has demonstrated to be a highly talented player at his position that is a major threat in the red zone due to his size and ability to make catches in traffic.

All of this sets the table for what should be the most critical season of his brief NFL career.
