The Buffalo Bills are amidst a game that could come down to the wire but they'll likely have to do so without Josh Allen. The Bills quarterback left the game after a helmet-to-helmet hit versus the New England Patriots.

On the hit, Patriots defensive back Jonathan Jones appears to lower his helmet on the quarterback. After the play, the referees threw the flag and Allen's teammates didn't seem to be fond of the hit on their franchise quarterback.

There was a brief scuffle between both teams before they were separated by the officials. With Allen having to leave the game, Matt Barkley stepped in as the team's quarterback in the fourth quarter.

Prior to Allen's exit, the second-year quarterback was having a rough outing with 153 yards and three interceptions versus an elite Patriots defense. Allen also had 26 yards and a score on the ground before taking a nasty hit from Jones.

The Bills were down 16-10 when Allen exited the game and there was an ample amount of time remaining in the game to come back. Nevertheless, Buffalo will rely on their backup signal-caller to pull off the upset in Week 4.

This season, Buffalo has gotten off to a 3-0 start due to the improved play of Allen under center. Additionally, the Bills defense has been phenomenal this season and they carried their momentum into Sunday.

As for Jones, the NFL will likely take a closer look at the play to determine whether or not it is a finable offense.

At first glance, the Patriots defensive back should be prepared to open up his checkbook.
