Josh Norman of the Buffalo Bills — also of limitless self-confidence — made some bold claims about the fact that the 32-year-old wouldn’t have to face off against a living legend in New England: Tom Brady.

Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a staggeringly productive and legendary career with the New England Patriots, but Norman was nonplussed:

“You know, the crazy thing is — I’ll tell you this, with or without him (Brady) there, we was going to be a force to be reckoned with,” Norman told TMZ. “Even if he were to stay, I just think coming in, I know the philosophy of the GM and the head coach already. Mindset-wise, it didn’t matter who was at the quarterback position there for the opposing team. It was just gonna be about us, not about anyone else. That’s what the mindset of going into this year is all about. Separate yourself from the pack. Just go out there and worry about you. Don’t concern yourself with anybody else.”

After four seasons with the Carolina Panthers and four seasons with the Washington Redskins, Norman signed a one-year deal with the Bills worth $6 million. After a five-year,$75 million pact with the Redskins, that seems like a steep decline.

Indeed, Norman underwhelmed in his four years in Washington, but he was able to cash in on the best all-around season of his career in 2015 with the Panthers (a contract year) by being named to the Pro Bowl and the First Team All-Pro.

Ever since that season, Norman hasn’t approached those heights. But perhaps without Brady in the division, he’ll have a better chance with Buffalo.
