During pregame warm ups, quarterbacks and wide receivers usually work on routes so they can develop more rapport before the game starts. Buffalo Bills rookie starting quarterback Josh Allen wanted to do that with wideout Kelvin Benjamin Sunday before the Bills took on the Houston Texans, but Benjamin refused.
Not a good look for Kelvin Benjamin, whose character and work ethic were questioned when he was with the Carolina Panthers.
It's hard to justify this decision by Kelvin Benjamin. Josh Allen is a rookie in the NFL and going against a tough Texans defense led by J.J. Watt. Allen and Benjamin need to be on the same page in order for the Bills to upset Houston, and Benjamin doesn't seem to care about that. This appears to be a selfish move by Benjamin, who looks to be disgruntled in Buffalo.
Entering today, Kelvin Benjamin has just eight receptions on the season for 103 yards and one touchdown. He's averaging 12.9 yards per reception. Josh Allen, meanwhile, is completing 53.3 percent of his passes and has thrown for 748 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions.
Is the relationship between Josh Allen and Kelvin Benjamin not on good terms? No reports have surfaced to say that is the case, but the events which transpired Sunday seem to suggest something is going on behind the scenes.
