At the tail end of his ninth season in the league, Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy became just the 31st player in league history to crack 10,000 rushing yards. McCoy has been a steady source of production as one of the most dependable players in the league over his near-decade tenure in the NFL.

McCoy has quickly shifted his attention toward another major individual milestone: recording 12,000 career rushing yards to join an exclusive list of only 16 players, per Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 Sports Radio.

“We’re chasing 12,000,” McCoy said with clear intent. “12,000, we’re chasing that.”

The 29-year-old is 1,918 rushing yards away from reaching that career milestone entering his 10th season in the league. McCoy hasn't shown any true decline in his performance on the field coming off a campaign where he finished fourth with 1,138 rushing yards and six touchdowns while playing in all 16 regular season games. It marked his fourth 1,000 rushing yard season in the last five years, and the sixth of his career.

McCoy will have plenty of opportunities to reach that goal over the next couple of seasons, as he's the centerpiece of the Bills' offensive game plan and will continue to be regardless of which quarterback takes over. He is a versatile talent who impacts the game greatly with his ability as a runner as well as a reliable receiving option.

The only thing that could slow McCoy down is his health, which has been an issue over the last couple of years. He has played through injuries but it could eventually catch up to him. If he's able to continue to remain relatively healthy through the course of next season and beyond, he should reach that lofty goal before he steps away from the game.
