Josh Allen is one of the fiercest competitors in the 2019 NFL draft, the type of player a certain kind of analyst might call a “gamer.” Some prospects have a list of teams they'd prefer to play for over others, but it's safe to say Allen isn't among them – unless his is just one team long, that is.

After his pre-draft visit with the Bills earlier this week, the University of Kentucky pass-rusher was asked about joining a team led by a quarterback that shares his name.

“That'd be a little weird,” he joked of being teammates with Buffalo signal-caller Josh Allen, per Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News. “It would kind of suck because he was there first. So what are they going to call me?”

Allen, of course, wouldn't actually mind being drafted by the Bills. He's even talked with his fellow Josh Allen, last year's seventh overall pick, over social media about their shared first and last name. Picking ninth, though, it seems unlikely the Bills will have the opportunity to draft Allen, considered the draft's top outside linebacker – and maybe top defender overall. But if he slides on Thursday night, Allen would be happy to provide the “young juice” Buffalo lacks on defense.

“They have everything I need,” he said of the Bills. “They have the defense that I would strive to be great in. They do a good job in developing their players. I feel like all they need is that young juice. They're right there, they're on the track to being a great team.”

Allen, 6-foot-5, 262 pounds, won the Bronco Nagurski award as the nation’s top defender in 2018, finishing the season with 88 tackles, 21 and-a-half tackles for loss, 17 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
