Are the Buffalo Bills really that good, or are they just a product of their soft schedule?

Sure, the Bills have gone 6-2 through the first nine weeks of the season, but their wins have come against teams with a combined 9-42 record. Meanwhile, their two losses have come against the only clubs they have played with winning records.

For that reason, it's seems rather natural to be cynical of Buffalo, especially considering that the Bills only won six games a year ago and were generally not considered a playoff contender coming into this season.

However, head coach Sean McDermott is telling his players that they just need to focus on what they can control.

“We control what we control. That’s what we do,” McDermott said, according to The Buffalo News. “We don’t make the schedule. We didn’t make the schedule last year and there are probably good odds that we won’t make it next year. We’re focused on who we play this week.”

Weak schedule or not, the Bills are off to their best start in 26 years, and McDermott is thrilled to be a part of it.

“Very, very grateful,” he said. “Just to be here, No. 1, and to be part of this team. There are lots of great people in this building and this is the result of the hard work.”

Buffalo's schedule doesn't get any tougher over the next three weeks, as it will take on the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos before finally playing a Dallas Cowboys club that has a winning record on Nov. 28.
