Star pass rusher Von Miller surprised the NFL world when he balked at a possible return to the Los Angeles Rams, signing on with the Buffalo Bills. While the $120 million he will earn with the Bills was certainly a nice perk, there was another motivating factor behind the decision. Miller revealed why he chose Buffalo over riding “off into the sunset” with Aaron Donald and Los Angeles, per Rams Wire.

He wanted to help the Bills win their first Super Bowl, knowing they reached the big game four times in a row and never came away with a victory.

“That’s why I came here,” Miller said. “I could’ve just stayed in L.A. and rode off into the sunset and rushed with Aaron Donald and piled up sacks, but I wasn’t content. I wasn’t content where I was at. I still wanted more.”

Miller wanted the challenge. He wanted “more”, as he says. He, Donald and the Rams had just won a Super Bowl. The Bills, however, have endured back-to-back heartbreaking playoff losses.

Buffalo has also advanced to the Super Bowl four consecutive times in their franchise's history, losing each time. For Miller, the prospect of potentially getting the Bills over the hump was more exciting than terrorizing quarterbacks with Donald and the Rams en route to a possible repeat.

It's certainly an admirable choice. Now, Miller will have to take on this new challenge head-on in a loaded AFC in 2022.
