With the NFL offseason in full swing, the rumor mill has begun churning for each franchise. In the latest scoop of rumors, the Buffalo Bills are aiming to make a splash signing in free agency. Rob Gronkowski is set to hit the free-agent market after Tom Brady retired from the league. Buffalo could have the superstar tight end on their radar.

According to The Athletic, “The Buffalo Bills wanted to bring Rob Gronkowski back home a year ago, and there was nothing about his 2021 season that has diverted their interest.” Although Dawson Knox has emerged as a reliable tight end, the front office might consider adding Gronkowski to the roster, regardless.

Michael Ginnitti, a managing editor of contract analysis database at Spotrac, breaks down what type of deal Buffalo might be willing to offer the superstar tight end. Although the Bills don't necessarily need a tight end, signing Rob Gronkowski could put this offense over the top.

“There's a sense that a one-year, $5 million base contract, with somewhere around $5 million of incentives attached, could be a strong fit for the Bills. That's lower risk up front as they assess what kind of role he may play over the course of 17-plus weeks, and they'll be happy to add on bonus pay if things go swimmingly.”

Rob Gronkowski has stated before that the only quarterback he'd play with is Tom Brady. However, he's also mentioned the idea of playing alongside Joe Burrow. Even so, if the Bills offered him a contract, Gronkowski might just sign the deal, as he'd be paired up with Josh Allen.

This of course is all rumors, as no concrete decisions have been made. It'll be interesting to see how the Bills approach the offseason, as the wide receiver position is a much bigger need right now. Regardless, Buffalo could set themselves up with two sturdy tight ends and still select an exciting receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft. Keep an eye on this franchise, as they'll aim to make a big signing during free agency.
