After another forgettable season with the Buffalo Bills, the future of Mitchell Trubisky with the franchise is anything but guaranteed at this point. The 27-year-old quarterback has already been linked to a couple of other teams in the league and right now, it sounds like his time has run out in Buffalo.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott has now spoken out about Tubisky's situation with the team and based on his statement here, it sounds like the QB's future lies elsewhere:

“I think it's unrealistic to think that we're going to be able to have him back,” McDermott said, via Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. “But I want him to go on and do great things for him and his family, which I know he's going to do.”

Trubisky did not play a significant role for the Bills last season as Josh Allen's backup. The former second overall pick clearly wants more playing time and it does not look like he's going to get this in Buffalo.

“It's hard to handle a situation where you're coming from basically a career starter to being a backup. That's a totally different dynamic,” McDermott said. “When somebody else is in front of the microphone a couple lockers down from yours, I thought Mitch Trubisky handled that extremely well, as good as anybody could have handled it.”

McDermott had nothing but praise for Trubisky and his work ethic, but what seems apparent here is that his time with the Bills is all but done. Buffalo general  manager Brandon Beane also spoke highly of Trubisky as he complimented the former North Carolina standout for his mindset:

“(Trubisky's) a marry your daughter type of guy,” Beane said. “… The whole year was ready if his number was called. Fortunately, Josh stayed healthy, but I got nothing but positive things for him, and I feel sure he's going to get a good opportunity to at least compete for a starting job this year.”

Among others, the New York Giants are one of the teams that have been linked to a potential swoop on Trubisky. New head coach Brian Daboll has worked with Trubisky in the past during their time together in Buffalo and he could be interested in a reunion in New York.
