Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum agrees with Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green on his remarks about the need for players to have the ‘I'm the best' mentality.

Before the start of the NBA Finals, Green doubled down on his belief that he is the best defender of all time. The Warriors star and former Defensive Player of the Year then went on to say that one has to believe first before he or she can reach anything.

McCollum, whose Blazers were swept by the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, supported Green and emphasized that players need to have that mentality in order to be successful.

“Like Draymond said before, you have to have the mentality that ‘We're the best,'” McCollum said in his ‘Pull Up with CJ McCollum' podcast, via NBC Sports Northwest.

“‘We're the best. I'm the best. No one can check me.’ And that's my mentality every day. I'm the best in the world. No one can see me. Whether it's true or not is…irrelevant. You have to believe you are untouchable.”

CJ and Co. may have lost in the West Finals, but they sure showed their resiliency. Moreover, they also proved their strong mentality by reaching the conference finale despite preseason predictions of another first-round playoffs exit.

The Blazers have a lot to work on this summer, especially if they want to get over the hump called Golden State. However, with the right mindset, only sky is the limit on how much they can improve.
