Following the slow start the Portland Trail Blazers have had so far this season, head coach Terry Stotts has been the subject of a lot of criticism before they took on the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, blaming him for their 8-7 record.

However, the team's star point guard, Damian Lillard, came to his coach's defense and made it known that it wasn't his fault, but rather the players.

The 27-year-old Weber State product took to his Instagram account and replied to a fan's comment on the Blazers' promotion post ahead of their game on the night, saying that the coaching staff has helped them win games, but it's up to the players to execute on the court. Lillard also added that even with their current win-loss slate, they will find a way to win more games.

“Everybody that has somethin (sic) to say about coach Stotts doesn't know a damn thing about what it takes to win a close game,” Lillard wrote. “Players have to play and get the job done. Our coaches put us in position to do what we need to do and we just got to get it done. We're 8-7 and should prob (sic) be 12-3 or 11-4 but all things considered we will find it and as always get it done. Smh [shaking my head].”

This definitely  says a lot about Damian Lillard's maturity and how he takes responsibility for the results of their games. Instead of putting the blame on Stotts or his staff, he understands that the Blazers' players should be the ones accountable, especially when they lose, as the coaches are there to help them be in the best position to come out victorious.

The Blazers responded well by winning against the Kings, 102-90, after the same team defeated them the night before. Lillard had a solid game and finished with 22 points, two rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block, silencing the Blazers' haters by leading by example and giving his best for his team to win.
