The Adidas brand and its shoe and apparel department has made huge strides in recent years. Most popular for its classic shoes such as the shell toe Adidas made wildly popular in the 80's by rap group Run DMC, the brand has signed a host of NBA players to their own signature shoe lines.

One big part of their success in this area is due to the materials used to both market and design in their shoes including the foam based Boost cushioning that you'll find in many lines from NBA player signature shoes down to the Kanye Yeezy brand.

Adidas recently revealed the new line for Derrick Rose who continues its yearly release but not as popular as some of the more recent athlete signings.

There is one NBA signature shoe that finds itself absent of the boost material, and that is in the D Lillard line endorsed by Blazers star Damian Lillard.

Lillard has chosen to keep his shoe lined with bounce material instead of boost for impact protection, but also for one other reason he chooses not to include the Boost in his shoe line.

Lillard's latest signature shoe costs $115 which is quite expensive but still $25 less than his most popular Adidas peer Harden 1 priced at $140 which includes boost. Rip City's point guard offered Shoe Collector.com an explanation of his personal touch and why he plans to stick with where he is despite liking and having choices of both.

It’s closer to what I’ve always played in than anything else is. Every time I’m in meetings about my shoes and how I want them to feel, I always talk about softer materials, and Bounce is really soft. Even if you pick up a shoe and just squeeze it – you can squeeze the shoe and that’s perfect for me. It’s right up my alley.

Basketball shoes are now made more for performance than looks which is why one might see the jump in price for so many more shoes than in the past. Some still find the over $100 price tags too steep for shoes, but it still is and always will be a matter of preference.

No matter if you're paying $500 for a Big Baller Brand shoe or a lesser price for a Marbury line sneaker, choices are the best flavor.
