The Portland Trail Blazers provided one of the biggest surprises in the opening games of the playoffs by defeating the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday in Game 1 of their first-round playoffs matchup. despite the convincing victory, however, Blazers superstar Damian Lillard understands the situation at hand and has no intention of taking his foot off the pedal by any means.

Lillard knows that the last thing Portland needs to do now is become complacent.

“We're not just overly trying to act like we're not proud of what we did, because we are, but we're also not gonna rest in it and pat ourselves on the back,” Lillard said, via SI. “We're gonna try to figure out the things we didn't do well that we could do better next game and try to give ourselves a chance to win the next game.”

Damian Lillard was amazing yet again on Tuesday, leading his team with 34 points on 9-of-21 shooting, along with five rebounds, five assists, and a block in 43 minutes of action. He also drained six triples on the evening, with a couple of them coming at crucial junctures down the stretch.

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday, and there is no doubt that the Lakers will be out for some revenge following their disappointing performance in Game 1. Lillard has been in this position too many times in the past, and he definitely knows what's at stake. Surely, his leadership will be key for the Blazers moving forward, and at the moment, he has to make sure that his team keeps their eyes on the prize.
