In the latest episode of ‘Last Week Tonight', HBO host John Oliver briefly cited the Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard as he discussed the issue of Voting by Mail.

He mentioned that Oregonians would risk going to prison just to vote for Lillard as the league's MVP. He's not lying.

Oliver emphasized how crucial Voting by Mail is and how important being able to exercise your right to vote especially in times like these. He used the state of Oregon as an example of how effective this voting method can be. In 2016, there were only 54 suspected cases of voter fraud which accounted for just 0.002% of the state's two million voters.

Former Secretary Of State for Oregon Phil Kielsing also shared his thoughts about the state and mentioned that “Oregonians don’t care about politics to the level of risking prison time for” which Oliver enthusiastically agreed with.

“The only vote Oregonians would risk prison over would be a vote to get Portland Trail Blazer Damian Lillard into the MVP conversation.” Oliver said.

Damian Lillard, who is currently playing his eighth season with the Portland franchise has been on a tear. The 6″2′ star was having a career year just before the NBA regular season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 58 games, Lillard was averaging a career-best 28.9 points and 7.8 assists per game. Unfortunately for Dame (and Oregonians), this year's MVP race is quite stacked and pundits have him just outside the top 10 even with two amazing 60-point games under his belt this season.

Portland need not worry since Lillard has come out and pledged to finish his career with the Blazers. As John Oliver puts it, “Dame D.O.L.L.A. for life.”
