According to Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard, his high school coach laughed when he told him his dream was to play in the NBA.

Lillard opened up about everything that fuels him in a wide-ranging interview with Golden State Warriors All-Star power forward Draymond Green.

Damian Lillard wasn't a highly recruited player coming out of high school. He wound up playing his college ball at Weber State, where he started to make a name for himself.

The Blazers drafted Lillard with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft, and the rest is history. The Oakland native, who won the 2013 Rookie of the Year Award, is now a five-time All-Star and one of the best players in the NBA.

Since entering the league, Lillard has compiled averages of 24.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists with the Blazers in the regular season. He has also earned the nickname “Logo Lillard” due to his ability to shoot the ball from way beyond the arc with relative ease.

The only thing left for Lillard to accomplish in the NBA is winning a title. The Blazers guard, however, has said countless times he's not going to request a trade from Portland to join a superteam.

In 2019-20, Lillard averaged 30.0 points per game and led the Blazers to the 2020 playoffs, where the team ultimately lost to LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.

However, as he does every season, Lillard put on a show from start to finish.
