In his sixth season in the league, Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard has gotten to a strong start out of the gate.

The 27-year-old pushed forth a stellar performance in Sunday night's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder by notching a game-high 36 points with 13 assists, which put him in elite company in franchise history, according to Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune Sports.

Lillard has become one of the premier scorers in the league over the last couple of seasons as he's currently averaging a career-best 27.1 points per game while notching 25 or more points in six straight games. This includes four straight with 30-plus points.

In fact, he has scored 25 or more points eight games, which is tied for second most with Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and behind only Houston Rockets star guard James Harden (nine). Lillard had already become the fastest player in team history to reach 9,000 points in terms of games played (402).

Although he has been highly touted for his scoring ability, Lillard is an underrated playmaker as a distributor throughout his career. He has the ability to rack up assists and can have a high impact on the game as a passer. However, make no mistake he has made his living on his scoring skills and there could be many more records like this that he matches or breaks in team history.
