In front of a record crowd, Canelo Alvarez defeated Billy Joe Saunders via TKO to unify some middleweight titles. Using a run of fists late in the fight, he also likely etched his name in stone as a legitimate all-timer.
While the crowd itself had moments of shock and awe, Canelo Alvarez was at zero point confused, claiming he knew what would happen before it actually would.

I think I broke his cheek and knew he wasn't coming out of the corner. I told Eddie [Hearn] he wasn't coming out because I broke his cheek. I knew it was it.”
As a result of the fight, Billy Joe Saunders lost his WBO title.
The fight was called after Saunders' trainer decided to put the battle to the end, acknowledging afterward that he was worried about the young man's long term health.
