Since the acquisition of Russell Wilson, it has been smooth sailing for the Denver Broncos through free agency and the draft. Unfortunately, their ship hit some choppy waters early in the offseason with the arrest of WR Jerry Jeudy early Thursday.

Zach Bye of 104.3 The Fan Denver first reported the arrest. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's office confirmed that Jeudy was arrested and being held on charges of 2nd-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer. He is currently on a no-bond hold and is expected to be held overnight.

Jerry Jeudy Arrest Details

Fox31 Denver received the affidavit on Jeudy's arrest. According to the document, the mother of Jeudy's child said “things got crazy” between her and Jeudy. He reportedly took her wallet, important medical documents for the child, and the child's car seat and locked them in his car, refusing to allow her access to it. She said that she was “trying to get back to Virginia” but Jeudy had locked away the items she needed. She claims that she also has to hide her phone at home due to “jealousy issues” from Jeudy.

Jeudy did not deny taking the woman's wallet and the items for the child. When asked why he did it, he said it was because “she took one of his three phones and would not give it back.”

Sheriff Tyler Brown of the Arapahoe Sheriffs Office confirmed there was no physical contact or violence in the case. Because Jeudy has a child with the woman, a domestic violence enhancer charge was added. The second-degree tampering charge was added because he was withholding her keys and preventing her from using the vehicle.

What happens next?

If Jerry Jeudy is found guilty, he could face jail time or a fine. The Broncos are aware of the arrest, but it is expected that any disciplinary action will be handed down by the league rather than the team. If anything, Jeudy will most likely get a stern reprimand from the team once he is released. Expect Jeudy to serve at least a one-game suspension for the incident.
