The Denver Broncos are scheduled to face the Tennessee Titans on Monday night and it appears they'll likely be without their No. 1 wide receiver. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Courtland Sutton is a ‘long-shot' to play in Denver's season opener versus the Titans.

Earlier this week, the Broncos endured injuries to two of their marquee players during practice. On Tuesday, Von Miller sustained an ankle injury that will require him to undergo surgery and likely miss the 2020 season.

Then, on Thursday, Sutton suffered a shoulder injury while attempting to make a reception in practice. After undergoing tests, Sutton was diagnosed with a sprained AC joint and was labeled as day-to-day by the Broncos. Even though Sutton has done everything he can to play on Monday, he appears to be doubtful to take the field.

Entering the 2020 season, Sutton was projected to be Denver's No. 1 wide receiver for the second consecutive season. A season ago, Sutton hauled in 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. His numbers were expected to increase this season due to Drew Lock becoming the full-time starter under center.

However, if Sutton does miss Monday night's contest, then rookie Jerry Jeudy will replace Sutton in the offense. At the same time, second-year tight end Noah Fant would likely see an expanded role in Denver's passing attack.

If it were a playoff game, Sutton would likely force himself to play for the Broncos on Monday. But with that not being the case, it seems as if Denver is going to take a cautious approach with the big-play wideout in Week 1.
