The Denver Broncos have been in dire search of a cornerstone quarterback since the legendary Peyton Manning retired in 2015. Now, it looks like the team is banking its hopes yet again on a different signal-caller.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio is going with Teddy Bridgewater as QB 1 over Drew Lock. The 28-year-old Bridgewater has the edge on experience over Lock, who will enter his third season in the NFL.

Despite getting shunned for the starting role for the Broncos, the 24-year-old Lock isn't stewing. In fact, he said he's trying to be a sponge when it comes to watching Bridgewater, who made it to the Pro Bowl in 2015 as a member of the Minnesota Vikings (via ESPN).

“Secretly, I was sitting back learning everything I can from Teddy. And I think one of the special things he does that I'm going to keep adding into my game is the way he communicates, how he talks, how he operates after practice.”

Lock, however, also admitted that losing the QB 1 spot for the first time in his career was difficult to swallow.

“The toughest part was getting it and then going in the team meeting and knowing it was going to be talked about.”

The Broncos finished last season with a lowly 5-11 record and missed the NFL Playoffs for the fifth straight year.
