Melvin Gordon isn't holding back. The Denver Broncos running back took to Twitter to blast ex-NFL player Brandon Stokley, who tweeted that his former team was spending too much on the 27-year-old.

The two-time Pro Bowler just signed a two-year, $16 million contract with Denver last March, which means the Broncos are paying Gordon at least $7 million for this year (per Spotrac).

Stokley, who played for the Broncos for three seasons, feels that the pay check is simply too much and that the franchise could have spent that money in other things (or players), which didn't sit well with Gordon.

Although the former wide receiver only had a short and rather unsuccessful stint with Denver, it's hard to simply ignore a guy who has won two Super Bowl trophies in his 15-year NFL career.

For what it's worth, Gordon's five-year career has been marred by multiple injuries, which has sidelined the running back for a handful of weeks. He has only been able to complete a 16-game season once (2017) as part of the Los Angeles Chargers' lineup. This was probably where the criticism from Stokley came from.

All these criticisms will be nothing but motivation to help fuel Melvin Gordon in his first year with the Broncos. With the 2020 NFL season coming in about a month's time, Gordon surely can't wait to step onto the field and prove to Stokley (and the rest of the world) that he's worth every penny.
