The Denver Broncos were holding out hope for some fan attendance despite the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It seems they have finally taken another step toward realizing the severity of the situation.

The Broncos officially announced that there will not be any fans in attendance for their 2020 NFL season opener against the Tennessee Titans, via their verified Twitter account:

“We are grateful for the loyalty and enthusiasm that Broncos fans have shown this year … but this is the responsible thing to do right now.”

ESPN's Adam Schefter added that that Lions have also ruled out any fan attendance for their first two home games.

The update hardly comes as any surprise considering teams around the NFL are starting to realize that there is not enough time for resources to ensure the safety of fans attending games. Although they remain optimistic by leaving the rest of the season up in the air, it may only be a matter of time before that announcement is made.

Regardless, this has not stopped the Broncos from doubling down on their safety precautions in the stadium that would include touch-less bathrooms and cash-less concession stands on top of mobile ticketing. However, it is safe to assume that this would hardly be enough to avoid any chance of a potential trial outbreak during the ongoing pandemic.
