The Cleveland Browns managed to convincingly beat the Cincinnati Bengals on the road in Week 12. However, the major storyline from the game was the awkward moment between quarterback Baker Mayfield and Bengals' assistant coach Hue Jackson.

The two shared a cold handshake following the game. Mayfield elaborated on his feelings toward Jackson's new job, via Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com:

“Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati. ….Somebody that was in our locker room asking for us to play for him and then goes to a different team we play twice a year.”

It is difficult to see why Mayfield is holding a grudge against his former coach. Jackson was fired by Cleveland following a 2-5-1 start to the 2018 NFL season. He was subsequently able to find a job with a franchise that he was already familiar with. That is the nature of the business in the NFL.

The Browns cannot be blamed for firing Jackson after leading them to a 3-36-1 record during his tenure with the team, nor can he be blamed for finding another coaching gig, regardless of the team it is with.

Mayfield's understanding of the business side of sports seems to only be eclipsed by his lack of appreciation for Jackson. After all, he had advocated for the rookie to be the No. 1 pick in a loaded draft class for quarterbacks.

Although there has been plenty of debate regarding his handling of Mayfield's progression, Jackson always held him in high regard when his name came up. However, it is clear that the feeling is not mutual.
