Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady coaxed a number of players to join forces with him when he signed with the team last spring.

After watching the Bucs win the Super Bowl this past weekend, it seems veteran running back Adrian Peterson now has an interest in teaming up with Brady.

Peterson told TMZ he was definitely intrigued by the idea of joining the Buccaneers in 2021:

“That would definitely be something I'm interested in,” Peterson said, via TMZ. “If they want me to be a part of it, I'll be a part of it for sure. Because I'm definitely trying to add a trophy to my resume.”

The former league MVP went on to say “Playing with Tom Brady, that by itself is enticing.”

Peterson is indeed a free agent this spring, though it is unknown how he would fit into Tampa Bay's plans. The 35-year-old played six games with Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians–then with the Arizona Cardinals–in 2017. But Tampa Bay has options in the backfield.

Leonard Fournette established himself as something of a playoff hero, scoring four touchdowns and posing as a viable two-way weapon out of the backfield. Meanwhile, Ronald Jones rushed for close to 1,000 yards and averaged 5.1 yards per carry in 14 regular-season games. Jones also had some success in the playoffs are part of the two-pronged rushing attack.

It remains to be seen whether the Buccaneers will exercise Jones' fifth-year option, though it seems likely. Fournette is a free agent, though Tampa could bring him back after a stirring playoff run.

If the Bucs move on from Fournette, however, they could turn to Peterson. The three-time rushing champion is still kicking and could be a cost-effective pickup as a guy who could excel behind Tampa's terrific offensive line.
