With Tom Brady officially retired from football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are likely going to be in the market for a new starting quarterback. Unless Bruce Arians feels comfortable starting Blaine Gabbert under center, the Bucs will almost certainly be keeping tabs on quarterbacks in free agency. One player linked to the Bucs early on has been the franchise's former No. 1 overall pick, Jameis Winston. Bruce Arians had a surprising response when asked about his thoughts on bringing Winston back to Tampa, via Rick Stroud,

Per Stroud, Arians didn't rule out the possibility of bringing Winston back to the Buccaneers, but admitted that he doesn't feel it would necessarily be the best place for Winston to continue his career.

Winston started his NFL career with the Buccaneers, who selected him with the first overall pick in 2015. Winston played five years for the Buccaneers, going 28-42 and throwing 121 touchdown passes to 88 interceptions, including a league-high 30 picks in 2019.

He certainly didn't have the greatest tenure as a member of the Buccaneers, but he impressed prior to his ACL injury in 2021 with the Saints. Last year, Winston threw 14 touchdown passes and just three interceptions across seven starts in New Orleans. An ACL injury cost him what looked to be his best year in the NFL, but he'll look to build off the progress he made with the Saints.

A handful of quarterback-needy teams will be giving Winston a long look this offseason and based on Arians' comments, the Buccaneers will be among them, even if Arians ultimately feels Winston isn't a great fit.
