Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians is liking where his new quarterback, veteran Tom Brady, is at in terms of preparation during the NFL's unorthodox offseason, via Mike Florio in Pro Football Talk

“He’s way ahead of the curve,” Arians said of Brady. “He’s a very bright guy — the terminology was the big thing. As we now get together starting tomorrow, we’ll start to collaborate a little bit more. So yeah, I think he’s in a great spot right now as far as that goes.”

Brady, turning 43 years old during the first week in August, is landing on his second team in two decades after a six Super Bowl run with the New England Patriots, his professional home for 20 years along with lock-in-step head coach Bill Belichick. Arians, entering his second year with the Buccaneers, gets a new toy with which to play in the star Brady, who signed a two-year, fully guaranteed $50 million deal in the offseason.

Despite the NFL's decidedly disparate, yet very unenforced, offseason, Brady is apparently very well-prepared for the 2020 season, which looks to be a different one given various states' ordinances on whether fans can attend games in stadiums or not. (In New York and New Jersey, for example, fans will not be allowed to attend Bills, Giants, and Jets games this fall.)

Arians also brought up the lack of “live reps” during the spring and summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic limiting access between players and coaches attending OTAs and workouts. Of course, Brady was in hot water in the last few months for practicing with Buccaneers teammates when the NFLPA advised the opposite.

NFL training camps officially opened on Tuesday, so Arians' wish of live reps is coming true, at least.
