If you're going to ask Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, he would love to have Rob Gronkowski back to the team. However, he understands why the tight end chose to retire instead.

Speaking with Ari Alexander of KPRC2, Evans shared his thoughts about Gronk, whom he considers the best tight end ever. While he is holding out hope that Gronk pulls a Tom Brady and unretires, he admits he feels the 33-year-old is done for good:

“I hope he comes back!. With Tom [Brady] and Gronk, you never know. I wouldn’t be mad if he came back. I’d be really excited if he came back, Evans said.

“I feel he is done. …He takes a pretty big beating, I've seen his body after some of them games and I understand why (he would retire).”

It is already Rob Gronkowski's second retirement after briefly retiring in 2019. He chose to return to the game in 2020 to team up with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers, winning another Super Bowl title in the process. With that said, it's just right to assume he has made his final decision.

Gronk also took his time this offseason before making an official announcement. He pondered about returning to the Buccaneers for another run with Brady, but he could no longer do it. As Mike Evans said, the physical toll of playing in the NFL — particularly in their positions — is nothing to scoff at:

It remains to be seen what's next for Gronk, though we're pretty sure he's going to be cheering for the Buccaneers no matter what.
