The Buccaneers are set for a playoff rematch from a year ago as the Washington Football Team is at home and ready to host the Super Bowl champs. The Bucs will be doing so, however, without two of their five four main weapons in the passing game as both wide receiver Antonio Brown and tight end Rob Gronkowski will be missing their fifth and sixth games of the year, respectively.

Also included on the injury report from Friday was Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin, who head coach Bruce Arians deemed questionable and is set to be a true game-time decision. WFT gave Tampa all they could handle last year in the playoffs, including an impressive showing by Taylor Heinicke that the starting quarterback says is the “reason” he is still in the NFL. Heinicke finds himself in a similar situation now as he was in back then, as he is trying to fend off the on-the-mend Ryan Fitzpatrick and show the Washington organization that he is the quarterback of their future.

While Heinicke is still a ways off from proving that point, as NFL teams really want you to “prove it” as a player nowadays after the Rams, 49ers, and a couple of other teams paid quarterbacks before they probably should have, due to overinflated stats during a small sample size. Heinicke can, however, get out ahead of the doubters with a big win this week; if he ends up with the victory maybe he can yet again refer to a game against Tampa Bay as the reason he is still in the league. Another loss and it could be one of the final nails in his coffin as a starter in Washington. Stay Tuned.
