Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett was among the headline-performers in the NFC wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

For one, in the third quarter of the contest, Barrett dropped back in coverage on a crucial fourth down play for the Eagles. As quarterback Jalen Hurts aimed to connect with rookie wideout Devonta Smith, Barrett had other plans in mind, as he showed off his tremendous athleticism by hauling in the Buccaneers’ second interception off of the second-year passer.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans was much impressed with this one-handed interception from the veteran pass rusher, as he touched on during his post-game press conference.

“That was the play of the year by Shaq Barrett,” Evans said. “That's not an ordinary play by a defensive lineman/outside linebacker.”

This play sure is quite impressive considering that there was even doubt regarding Barrett’s availability for the playoff encounter with Philadelphia. He missed Tampa Bay’s final two games of the regular season due to a knee injury suffered in the road win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 16.

The Buccaneers ended up not placing Barrett on injured reserve. His recovery work over the past couple of weeks paid off in the end, as he returned to practice last Wednesday and later earned the green light to play against the Eagles.

Overall, Barrett did not register a sack or a tackle in the playoff win over Philadelphia. At the least, the crucial second half interception could end up being a grand confidence booster to him ahead of Tampa Bay’s NFC divisional round game next week.
