Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady made history this Sunday, and he did it against some familiar faces. Against his former team, the New England Patriots, Brady tied the all-time passing yards record. The Buccaneers quarterback did this off of a 28-yard completion to wide receiver Mike Evans. Brady needed only 68 yards entering the match to tie the record set by former New Orleans Saints legend Brees. Barring an epic collapse from the Buccaneers, it was expected that the legendary quarterback would surpass this record. Brees himself was watching the game as an analyst, and he said this earlier about Brady's record attempt.

“And I can’t think of a guy who has invested more into his [Brady] career, into his preparation and kind of what he’s meant for the game. It’s definitely a special record because it speaks to the longevity that he’s been able to experience and the level that he’s been able to play at.”

The record couldn't have happened at a better place. Or worse, depending on your perspective. As fate would have it, Brady and the Bucs faced the Patriots; the team that Brady built his career on and helped propel to multiple titles and glory. It's a bittersweet moment for Patriots fans. They saw the greatest player of their franchise claim another record, but it was against their own team.

There's still a game to be played, though. The Bucs couldn't get to the end zone off of this drive, but they got close enough to get a field goal to draw first blood. Afterwards, they took a timeout to celebrate their quarterback's record, just as they had planned earlier. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers might be feeling excited over this record-breaking game, but they have to remember there's still a game to be played.
