Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston showed off his pocket awareness in Friday evening's first preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On a second down in the first quarter, Winston, entering his fifth year in the NFL—all with the Bucs—saw pressure coming and reacting by spinning to his left, checking down the field while looking for an open receiver, and instead taking the ball himself for a 10-yard rush, picking up the first down and more.

Tampa Bay was the 14th-best team in the league year in avoiding sacks, only getting pinned to the ground on 6.2% of pass attempts. The same ranking applied among the 31 other NFL franchises during the 2018 in terms of pure number of sacks allowed, at 41 total in 16 games.

Winston, the former first-overall selection in the 2015 draft, flashed his athleticism and ability to create with his legs against Pittsburgh on Friday, avoiding the impending sack by the Steelers' defense and instead picking up the first down.

Winston, 25, only appeared in 11 games for the Bucks last season due to a three-game suspension to begin the year. He threw 244 completions for 2,992 yards, and connecting on 19 touchdowns in 2018. Meanwhile, Winston also rushed for 281 yards and one rushing touchdown, too.

The Bucs' preseason slate includes Friday's tilt with the Steelers and scheduled matchups with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys.
