After a scoreless first quarter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are starting to find their groove against the Minnesota Vikings. While it was the Vikings that first got on the board, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers have answered back in the second quarter after Brady found wide receiver Scotty Miller for a 48-yard touchdown.
The play happened at the 7:48 mark of the second quarter at Minnesota’s 48-yard line. Brady aired a long pass to Miller, who was able to beat Vikings cornerback Chris Jones and make the catch at the end zone, giving Tampa Bay their first points of the game and a 7-6 lead.
The score ended a four-play, 74-yard Tampa Bay drive that took just 1:49 off the clock, and made up for their first couple of drives in the first quarter that ended in punts.
It was only the third touchdown of the season for Miller, the Buccaneers’ sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and his first since Tampa Bay’s Week 7 45-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady, meanwhile, recorded his 29th touchdown pass of the season against 11 interceptions.
The Buccaneers, which have a 7-5 record, enter the game against the Vikings needing a win to strengthen their chances of making the postseason. Minnesota, which is at an even 6-6, also needs a win to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive.
