Ohio State linebacker K'Vaughan Pope will forever remember this particular weekend—all for the wrong reasons.

The Buckeyes annihilated Akron, 59-7 on Saturday, but the win was largely overshadowed by Pope's outburst on the sideline in the second quarter. He was eventually escorted off the field and back into their locker room. Moments later, he posted on Twitter “f*** Ohio State” before deleting it.

On Sunday, Pope, a senior, was dismissed from the team, with Ohio State coach Ryan Day issuing an official statement. Luckily for Pope, he didn't lose his scholarship (via Bill Landis of The Athletic).

“K'Vaughan will continue to have the use of programs that benefit our student-athletes, such as our Student-Athlete Support Services Office, and we will support him with his progress toward graduation. He will remain on scholarship through the duration of this semester.”

A sorry development for the young man.

It's still unclear why Pope blew his top against Akron, but all signs point to his lack of playing time. He tried to wave off fellow linebacker Teradja Mitchell when he tried to come in for him but to no avail, leading to his total frustration on the Ohio State bench.

Pope has issued an apology on Twitter.

“Last night I let my emotions get the best of me. For that I want to apologize to my teammates, coaches, and Buckeye Nation. I made a mistake and know that I need to be better and do better. I'm going to take this time to reflect and work on my mental well-being.”

Ohio State has a 3-1 standing this season.
