Joe Johnson is still fighting like hell to make an NBA roster. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Johnson has a workout with the Milwaukee Bucks later this week. Milwaukee has one open roster spot remaining.

“Iso Joe” has not played in the NBA since 2018. He had workouts with a number of teams in the fall of 2019, including the Bucks, though nothing ever came to fruition.

Johnson showed he could still ball by winning the MVP in the BIG3 league that summer. He garnered plenty of interest, at the very least. Now, the 39-year-old could be after his last hurrah.

Johnson could provide the Bucks with a valuable floor-spacer off the bench as well as someone who can break opponents down off the dribble. He is a career 37.1 percent shooter from beyond the arc and can definitely provide double-digit scoring numbers every now and then even as a deep bench piece.

The Bucks might prefer to add someone with more current experience in the league. However, there is an allure to adding a scoring touch and shot-creator like Johnson.

Milwaukee's recent playoff failures have come as a result of teams packing the lane and forcing someone other than Giannis Antetokounmpo to score and make plays off the dribble. The Bucks appeared to recognize the need for playmaking by adding Jrue Holiday to the fold. Khris Middleton also excels on the ball.

Johnson would add another element as a guy who gets to his spots. He can shoot from beyond the arc or finish with a variety of floaters and runners. That scoring mentality could pack a punch for the Bucks

Milwaukee will see what kind of physical shape Johnson is in later this week prior to making a final decision.
