The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to go through the first three games of the 2018 season without quarterback Jameis Winston due to a suspension for his alleged involvement in a groping incident with a female Uber driver.

This has put backup Ryan Fitzpatrick in line to be the starter for that stretch of games to begin next season. The Buccaneers have continued to voice high a level of confidence in Fitzpatrick with head coach Dirk Koetter stating that he doesn't believe there will be a drop off with the 35-year-old under center, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“Guys, we’re not gonna miss a beat with Ryan at quarterback,” Koetter said. “I don’t know if everybody’s worried about that or not, but I’m certainly not.”

This isn't the first time that Fitzpatrick has had to step into the starting job after being the backup as has done so in nearly every other situation that he's been in his NFL career. He has been able to have some sort of success practically everywhere he has played, which did see him do that last year with Winston sidelined with a shoulder injury as he held a 2-1 record.

Fitzpatrick is an experienced quarterback that has a year in the offensive system that Koetter has in place that he has had the ability to build some chemistry with his key factors in the passing game. He will have plenty of talent to throw to in wide receivers Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson along with tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard. The team also has some promising talent in the backfield with rookie Ronald Jones potentially having the chance to grab a significant role as the starter.

The biggest question will be how he will fare against some top-tier teams in that three-week span facing the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Only time will tell if he can lead the team to success in Winston's absence.
