As the Buffalo Bills plan their future around rookie quarterback Josh Allen, they are making a roster move to help his development. While he is going to be the starter long-term, the Bills know that they need to bring in a veteran quarterback to help him as he grows in the NFL.

According to a report from Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Bills are going to sign veteran quarterback Derek Anderson within the next 24 hours to come in as a mentor for Allen.

For those who have no clue who Anderson is, Mortensen's tweet above will give you some idea. He was a major part of Cam Newton's development with the Carolina Panthers. Anderson also stepped in at times and provided much-needed production as a quality backup quarterback.

Allen has shown major potential already since taking over the starting job in Buffalo. He has a huge arm and excellent athleticism. In addition to the physical abilities that he has, Allen has taken over as a leader for the Bills and has his teammates believing in and playing for him.

Anderson likely will not take a snap for the Bills. He is coming in specifically to stand on the sidelines and be in Allen's ear as he sees things.

Throughout his career, however, Anderson has been ready every time his number has been called. He has completed 54.1 percent of his passes, but don't let that scare you away. Anderson did have one season back in 2007 with the Cleveland Browns where he played all 16 games, racking up 3,787 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions.

Expect to see Anderson come in and do an excellent job working with Allen. Buffalo knows how important his development is and are doing everything in their power to speed things up and make it as easy as possible for the former Wyoming star.
