This past season was the final year of Zach LaVine's four-year, $78 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. In other words, the star guard became a free agent at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Fortunately for Bulls fans, he wasn't up for grabs for long. The team signed him to a five-year, $215.2 million max contract, the fifth year being a player option.

LaVine posted an edit of him as Jordan Belfort in “The Wolf Of Wall Street” yelling, “I'm not leaving” to his team on Friday. Of course, LaVine's right-hand-man DeMar DeRozan was featured in the Instagram post. He shared it on his Instagram story, sharing the excitement to have LaVine around for the next five years.

This is great news for everyone involved, but arguably nobody more than DeRozan. He gets to continue to play alongside LaVine in the Bulls starting five. So far, the two have only played one season together, but their on-court chemistry seems to date back years.

LaVine joined the Bulls in June of 2017 as a part of a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Meanwhile, DeRozan didn't come to Chicago until August of 2021 in a sign-and-trade from the San Antonio Spurs.

DeRozan is entering the second year of his three-year, $81.9 million contract. He'll be a free agent in 2024, while LaVine is signed until 2027.
