With the Chicago Bulls trying to get some of their younger players some run, Fred Hoiberg decided to bench Justin Holiday and Robin Lopez for Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

When asked about the move on Friday and if it was permanent, he didn't really give much of an answer.

Although Hoiberg is saying it's because they are trying to get younger guys some playing time, it seems like the true reason might be they are trying to tank.

This is a big change for the Bulls as both Lopez and Holiday had started all but one game for the Bulls this season before Thursday night.

Lopez has put up some nice numbers this year averaging 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and two assists per game, and has been a nice locker room addition to the team.

His team-first mentality was shown with the quotes he shared with Cody Westerlund of CBS Chicago:

“It was rough for me,” Lopez said. “I get it. I understand it. I always want to be out there playing on the court. It’s what I enjoy, especially playing with these guys. But I’m excited to watch these guys give it a go, from the bench…I’ve just kind of approached it as it’s nothing that I can control. I’m going to support my teammates.”

Lopez and Holiday are under contract for next year too with the Bulls, so it will be interesting to see if they decide to keep them and have them play when they want to try to win next year, or if they will try and move them in the off-season.
