The Chicago Bulls scored just 73 points during their loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, the lowest total in the NBA this year. They had just 50 points through the first three quarters.

Still, Jim Boylen tried to spin a negative into a positive by stating that Chicago's transition defense must have been spectacular considering they missed 63 field goal attempts (via ESPN):

“Our defense was so good even though we were in transition 63 times,” Jim Boylen said. “Think about it, 63 missed and our defense was still was where it was at. I am proud of that part of it.

Indeed, the Bulls were 27-of-90 from the field and 7-of-34 from beyond the arc. They committed only 12 turnovers, but clearly the efficiency with the ball did not translate to scoring efficiency. To make matters worse, the Hornets tried to give Chicago the game, as they committed 20 turnovers of their own.

Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine was 4-of-19 from the field just one game after torching the Atlanta Hawks for 35 points on 75 percent shooting, including a perfect 7-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Boylen's attempts to shake up the rotations did not have much of an impact. Thaddeus Young outplayed Lauri Markkanen and registered a better plus-minus, but he was hardly much of an improvement.

Meanwhile, rookie guard Coby White's struggles continued. White shot 1-of-8 from the field, taking his field goal percentage to .359 for the season.

The Bulls are 11th in the East after falling to 9-18 on Friday, and frustration with Boylen continues to grow. Reports even surfaced on Monday that Bulls players are still uncomfortable with their head coach.
