Following the warning the Chicago Bulls received from the NBA about resting healthy players, they have responded by making it known that they will give more playing time again to their veterans. One of them is Robin Lopez, who has been informed that he will receive some court action this weekend during their games.

With the Bulls scheduled to face the Detroit Pistons on Friday and the Atlanta Hawks two nights after, they have reportedly told the veteran center that he will suit up in both games. However, there’s also a chance that he will be rested once they play again at home on Tuesday versus the L.A. Clippers, according to Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.

After playing and starting for the Bulls in their first 57 games of the season, head coach Fred Hoiberg decided to sit him in their last six outings, and allow their young guns to gain more experience on the court. It was a tough situation for Lopez, but he accepted it like a true professional, as he understands the direction the Bulls are headed.

It’s no secret that the team is not in contention to make the playoffs, and giving their younger players more playing time could benefit them in the future. Tanking is an option for them, but with the league office now watching them closely, they will have to prove that they are not trying to lose on purpose in order to have a better chance of landing one of the top picks in the next draft.
