Canelo Alvarez was on the wrong end of a massive upset that shook the boxing world on Saturday night. The sport's biggest star suffered a unanimous decision at the hands of Dmitry Bivol.

All three judges scored the bout at 115-113 but the eye-test mainly felt as though Bivol thoroughly controlled the fight for most of the rounds.

A resolute Canelo Alvarez spoke out after the bout, vowing that the loss is far from a death knell for his career, as he sat atop the sport of boxing before the fight's result.

“It doesn't end like this,” said Alvarez, who entered the ring rated No. 1 pound-for-pound by ESPN.

While Alvarez did pay respect to his opponent in Bivol, he also claimed that he disagreed with the final result. But with the cards now official, a rematch is his best bet at redemption.

“No excuses, I lost today; he is a great boxer … I felt his power. He comes in and he goes out. He manages his distance really well.”

“I don't feel like I lost the fight,” Canelo Alvarez said. ” … Personally, I felt he only won four or five rounds. … Maybe the weight was a slight issue and made me feel less than 100 percent. … We want the rematch, and we're going to do better in the rematch.”

Canelo Alvarez is still just 31 years old and had a nearly unblemished career before suffering the loss to Dmitry Bivol. He's by no means looking to hang up his gloves anytime soon.

“Tonight, I was looking for greatness. I have many years ahead of me, and I'm going to come back stronger.”

Alvarez-Bivol will definitely must-watch viewing for boxing fans everywhere.
