The 2022 NHL trade deadline is less than two weeks away and among the most intriguing names rumored to be on the move is Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller. Not a few expect Miller to attract plenty of attention in the days leading up to the trade deadline on March 21st, but if a team like the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, or really just anyone, it is believed that the Canucks would have a steep asking price in return, per Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic.

Ultimately what’s true for Miller is true for almost any other star-level player in this league. If a rival club is going to pry him out of Vancouver — whether it’s the New York Rangers, who have been at the centre of this process throughout, the Toronto Maple Leafs, who The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reports has heavily scouted Miller of late, or a team like the Colorado Avalanche that The Athletic understands have expressed interest more recently — it’s going to take an astronomical package.

The Canucks are still in contention for a playoff spot. But Miller's impressive play and the fact that he has zero trade protections make him an enticing trade asset for Vancouver, which has team control of the 28-year-old veteran until the end of the 2022-23 NHL season.

So far this campaign, Miller has scored 21 goals to go with 40 assists. Since being traded by the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Canucks in 2019, Miller has accumulated 63 goals and 116 assists in 176 games played.
