Even to this day, it is hard to fathom on the events that transpired in the Super Bowl 51 clash between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, which may still be the case for new Arizona Cardinals cornerback Robert Alford.

The Patriots looked dead in the water at one point in the game, as they trailed by an astounding 28-3 score. But as the Falcons would like to forget, Tom Brady led a historic 25-point second half charge along with the game-winning touchdown drive in overtime to pull off arguably the greatest comeback in NFL history.

At halftime of the game, the Falcons led 21-3. Now-former Falcons talent and current Cardinals cornerback Robert Alford thought at the time that the game was all over.

As new Cardinals cornerback Malcolm Butler revealed to 12 News' Ryan Cody, Alford recently told the former Patriots defensive back that he was celebrating during halftime of the game.

ā€œI talked to him about [Super Bowl 51],ā€ Butler said. ā€œI asked him if he wanted his ring back. He told me a story. He said he was in the locker room at halftime. He told me he was about to pop a bottle and things like that, it was so funny. And we came back and beat them.

ā€œIā€™m just imagining him at halftime. Robert, heā€™s a funny guy. Heā€™s got a lot of energy, tells a lot of jokes, and he told me at halftime they were in there dancing and hooraying, then we came back and beat them, so I think that was pretty funny.ā€

Alford had key plays over the course of the game, which included recording a notable 13 tackles and three passes defended. But the Falcons' defensive miscues in the second half proved to be their demise, as their collapse has now become a laughingstock to them.

Butler and Alford are now teammates with the Cardinals. The two will look to do their part to help Arizona clinch a spot in the NFC playoffs this upcoming season.
