Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson is one the best defensive players in the league, but the last few years his impact on the game has seemed to diminish as offenses go away from him on the field. That still does have an impact on the game, but the stats haven't been as nice as early on in his career.

With the Arizona Cardinals adopting a new defensive scheme this offseason, Peterson has liked what he has seen, and thinks he will get to his playmaking ways this season.

“[I’m] very excited, ’cause I’m gonna be doing a lot of new things that I haven’t done in my career — in my NFL career,” Peterson said, via AZCentral.com. “I’m just looking forward to getting back to my playmaking ways because I believe over the last two and half, three years, I’ve been kind of handcuffed in doing that, because obviously teams try to stay away from me. But now, Coach Holcomb and Coach Wilks are going do a great job of finding ways to install me into the game.”

The rest of the secondary around Peterson is pretty inexperienced, so his play is going to be even more important. Peterson is going to have to help the young guys, and also make sure that he is ready when the ball is thrown his way.

What exactly the Cardinals have planned for him in terms of getting him more involved is unclear, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Peterson move around the field more, and try to give offenses different looks.
